Chapters 1-11: The Land    1.The opening scene suggests that Oklahoma is depleting. The place is in a state of dryness and sorrow. What little rain came was  promptly  taken away by the sun. They themselves are the hunted because the banks and tractors are  conclusion them and driving them off of their land.   6.Chapters 1, 3, and 5 are meant to put things into  location for the reader. Or put a message that may  defend to the story.   7.Granpa and Granma are religious and ask Casy to say a  invocation at the meal.   Ma is  discerning that Tom broke  pop out of prison.  8.Each family member complete that moving is necessary although they all may not  handle it.
